Research 26/02/2019 bva203 week three

Presentation from last week

Replicate famous nude/boudoir paintings using photography as a medium

I want to replicate a famous nude/boudoir portrait (painting) and bring it into the contemporary area through photography.  I will study the painting for composition, lighting, props and accessories to compliment my final image. I will investigate different areas, maybe from 1900’s, Pin up, French Postcards and Hollywood styles. The history behind these themes and what was the opinion or repercussions at the time of creating these pieces of art.
I plan to document with written and visual recordings of my research progress.  This will be recorded in my blog as well as a paper copy.  Included with the final image I will explore the history of nude/boudoir meaning and artists interpretation throughout history.

I will use photography as my chosen medium, this will be created with a digital SLR, studio, studio lighting and photoshop for editing.
Influences
Delphin Enjolras was a French painter, his most prominent work consisted almost exclusively of eroticised woman often nude or at different stages of being undressed.  Scenes were often set with a single lamp.
Gemmy Woud-Binnendijk is a Dutch artist who has a great passion for painting and drawing.  These skills were re found in photography.  Gemmy recreates old painting styles and scenes with her photography.
Alloria Winter Photography  Rhiannon is a boudoir photographer, based in America.  Her Skills also consist of painting, drawing, design and writing.    Her images are very feminine, flattering to the subject and very fine detail from props through to clothing and accessories.
Albert Arthur Allen was a famous American photographer who was known for his nudes around the 1920s.  I’m not a fan of his work personally.
Definitions of nudeA naked human figure, typically as the subject of a painting, sculpture, or photograph.  nude | Definition of nude in English by Oxford Dictionaries. (n.d.). Retrieved from https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/nude
Definition of boudoir:   A woman's bedroom or small private room, the origin of the word boudoir, Late 18th century: French, literally ‘sulking-place’, from bouder ‘pout, sulk’
boudoir | Definition of boudoir in English by Oxford Dictionaries. (n.d.). Retrieved from https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/boudoir

Why I chose this subject, is I have always enjoyed photographing the human body with a variety of lighting techniques, compositions and to create a strong image that tells a story in a tasteful manner. This is from completely nude through to various layers of clothing.   I want to fine tune my skills and looking back on the passed masters of their trade, I believe this will help me refine my photography skills in this subject.

Express - nudity/boudoir photography to get the point across it is not erotic/porn photography.   nudity/boudoir photography is tasteful, expressing sculpture of the human form, which enhances with the play of lighting and suggestive.  Look for female and male models and do up flyer. erotic/porn photography is showing the act of sexual expression and desire.

One on one with Bex's, Suggesting I go with the theme nude verses naked.
* Speak to Kathryn about life drawing models, to use for my models.
* Lighting use this as my direction and the importance do the research onto it.
* SIT have a process to follow with nudity Bex will give me this information.
*Investigate other artists who have explored the nude verses naked.
*What elements have they used to get this message across, also lighting, environment, poses to express the differences.

My question is nudity/naked photography, is the view point depnednat on era, age sexuality??
