William-Adolphe Bouguereau, Vendangeuse (Grape Picker), 1875

The original painting was oil on canvas
140 × 63 cm (55.1 × 24.8 ″) original size
William-Adolphe Bouguereau 1825-1905 French academic painter.  His genre was realistic painter and mythological themes were modern interpretation of classical subjects with strong emphasis on the female body.
Near the end of his life he described his love of his art, "Each day I go to my studio full of joy; in the evening when obliged to stop because of darkness I can scarcely wait for the next morning to come if I cannot give myself to my dear painting I am miserable". He painted eight hundred and twenty-six paintings.  ("William-Adolphe Bouguereau - Biography - bouguereau.org," n.d.)
The girl is holding a wooden basket fill of red (purple) and green grapes and as the basket is heavy she is slightly counter balancing by slightly leaning back.  Where the right arm is out stretched holding the basket and her left hand is holding the handle.  The model faces the viewer, rotating her neck forward as her body is lightly turned to the side.  Bouguereau uses contrasting features.  The bright red fabric wrapped around the girl’s hair complements the green background of vegetation. There is also a contrast of light and dark and the area behind the head is the darkest area of the background.  This brings out the features of the model’s light and porcelain like complexation.  The painter has used shades of green, brown and ochre to create a natural atmosphere.  ("Vendangeuse [The Grape Picker] Painting by William-Adolphe Bouguereau Reproduction | 1st Art Gallery," n.d.)

Woman with a Cat by Auguste Renoir 1875

 Oil on canvas 56x46.4 cm
Pierre- Auguste Renoir was a French painter 1841-1919, is described as one of the best-known portraiture impressionist painters.
Woman with a Cat uses plenty of vivid hues but looking at the embroidery in the background of the painting (for example) we cannot pick out a detailed pattern. Nevertheless, though that it is not sharply 'detailed', Woman with a Cat does not give the impression of being broad or vague. Everything is painted with a careful, fine-tuned attention and there is a real sense of personality in both the female subject of the painting and the cat that she is holding. This is because another very important aspect of Impressionism is a careful attention to the quality of light, and to creating form.  In‑text: ("Woman with a Cat," n.d.)
There were a few of Renoir’s paintings themed feline and female sitters.  It took over a decade for Renoir to complete “Woman with a cat” In‑text: ("Woman with a Cat," n.d.)
