Pasifika Internship Programme
https://www.creativenz.govt.nz/development-and-resources/workshops-webinars-and-training/internships
Delivered by Tautai Contemporary Pacific
Arts Trust, on behalf of Creative New
Zealand, this programme supports Pasifika practitioners to embark on a career
in the arts as managers and administrators. Tautai works with the interns to
identify a suitable host organisation and prepare for their internship,
providing support throughout the 20-week placement.
For more information on how
to apply to be an intern or a host organisation contact Director@Tautai.org
“These internships are vital in that they not only provide
wonderful professional development opportunities for those interested in working
in arts administration, but also bolster the presence of Pacific people within
the sector.”
Even though I do not have Pasifika heritage, I
have worked alongside many different cultures and people. Since studying through SIT it has given me
more understanding of the culture and heritage, but also the importance of
displaying artefacts and artworks correctly and I read this great article about
MUSEUMS
AND MÄORI, HERITAGE PROFESSIONALS, INDIGENOUS COLLECTIONS
CURRENT PRACTICE by CONAL MCCARTHY. Also
there will be some unique experiences that will give me more understanding and
help me in a chosen field of a museum and gallery assistant/curator.
