Within these fields, students will develop a body of work that reflects an in-depth focused investigation relevant to their research questioning. Students will gain an understanding of the practical and theoretical implications of proposing, developing and resolving an art project. Students will explore relevant linages of practice and critically analyse their project’s positioning. Students will gain practical experience utilising a range of materials and processes to practically and theoretically engage with site and notions of viewer engagement. Students will also utilise journaling as a key research method. Areas of investigation include: Digital, Photography, Sculpture, Paint, Print, Animation and Film. 2 LEARNING OUTCOMES On successful completion of this paper, students have: 2.1 Planned and produced a body of explorative work • Identified and implemented a series of specific material and process making tasks. from an exploratory and experimental stance. • Documented practical explorations, including technical and contextual material and critically reflected on results. • Practically explored aspects of viewer engagement. • Developed knowledge of a range of attitudes and approaches towards the notion of viewer engagement in established practice. 2.2 Planned, developed and resolved a project in one or more fields • Demonstrated the ability to prepare a proposal for an art project. • Demonstrated the ability to develop and resolve a body of work reflecting in-depth focused investigation of a research question. • Demonstrated resolve of theoretical and practical issues in presented outcomes. • Engaged with relevant historical and contemporary practice to support critical questioning within project. • Understood and articulated stance with respect to viewer experience/encounter and Site. • Appropriately presented body of work to peers and/or public. 2.3 Utilised journaling as a key research method

Attendance: To qualify for a pass grade students are expected to have an 80% -100% attendance record. Students who are 10 minutes late or leave the class without prior permission will be marked absent. If you leave class for a portion of time, you will need to catch up in your own time and are not to hold back the class from progressing. If you are absent for any reason it is the students responsibility to inform the tutor and catch up with the required course material.
Deadlines: All assessments must be placed in the required location by 5pm on the due date. Assessments handed in after 5pm will not be marked and will receive an automatic zero. To achieve a pass grade students must deliver all required assessments.
Extensions: Extensions will be considered if applied for on the correct forms (located in your student handbook) at least three days before the deadline and accompanied by a medical certificate.

Proposal:
You are to develop a concept or theme relating to a photographic project you wish to create and present it to the class in a PowerPoint presentation.
Your final output will be a printed 8.5x11” (22x28cm) magazine in portrait orientation, please take this into consideration.
Your proposal must be presented in a professional manner. Your proposal must have the following:
Concept / Theme: You are to discuss a chosen theme or concept that you wish to explore photographically. Remember you can develop this further over the semester.
Research: This should outline your approach with mood boards, artist influences, works within your given field and how these works will influence your artistic and creative approach.
Presence / Presentation: The presentation must have clarity and presence demonstrating confidence around your chosen concept / theme. You are to dress appropriately. Visuals are to be concise and legible. Presentation must be no longer than 10 minutes. Time must be allocated for feedback and discussion.

Major Project:
Your photographic project will be presented in 3 ways; a magazine, 3 prints and a presentation to the class.
Magazine: You will present your project as a professionally printed magazine using tools covered in class. This body of work will be the result of in-depth engagement with methods and multiple techniques used in class to demonstrate your proposed concept or theme.
It must show a high technical standard of quality and must show a variation of techniques used during class tutorials.
It must have 24, 28 or 32 pages excluding covers. Atleast 2 pages must contain technical information relating to each photograph in your magazine which may contain a description, EXIF data or diagrams where applicable.
Prints: You will present three printed works, each at A1 size or suitable equivalent, from your project to a high technical standard. Each work must have a description and diagram if applicable of technical and general information about the photograph process used. Your selected prints must be from your magazine project.
Presentation: You will present your final project to the class, discussing your process, results and development.

Blog:
You must keep a blog documenting our progress throughout this paper. This should included all class activities, independent research, analysis, visual experimentation and creative development.
Your Blog is marked at 2 occasions prior to the final due date to make sure you are maintaining and progressing effectively.
Class Activities: All class activities should be documented with visual and written commentary. This should include any homework given within the class environment and should be entered before the next lesson.
Independent Research: Please include link with visual and written commentary on all your independent research. This should include, but not exclusive to, photographic exhibitions observed, photographs observed, library books, artists models, tutorials, articles and news.
Visual and Technical Experimentation: All visual and technical experiments should be documented right from the early conceptual sketches to the final works. These should be documented using written and visual analysis.
